The Community Preservation Act in Provincetown:

 

·        80% for affordable housing (per town meeting vote)

·        10% for open space/water resource protection

·        10% for historic preservation

 

A 3% surcharge on property tax bills

·        qualifies our town for 100% state matching funds for the foreseeable future

·        exemptions: first 100k of value for all residential properties

·        no surcharge for low income home owners or low and moderate income seniors . . .

Addresses Community Housing Goals

·        To add 144 units of community housing over the next five years—two-thirds of those for year-round affordable rentals

·        To provide housing for median income households, as well as low/moderate

·        To address the needs of the year-round workforce, with a preference for local residents
