Request for Proposals

Community Preservation Act – Applications for Funding – Monday, February 5, 2007 Deadline

The Provincetown Community Preservation Committee is seeking funding proposals for projects that meet Community Housing and/or Historic Preservation goalsDeadline for Proposals is Monday, February 5, 2007 at 5:00 pm for consideration at the April 2007 Town Meeting.

The Provincetown Community Preservation Committee has set its funding priority for fast track housing up to fifty (50) units in traditional Cape Cod style on one or more sites with a goal of those units being ready for occupancy within one-and-a-half (1˝) years after funding is approved by town meeting.  Preference will be given to projects with at least 2/3 rental housing.

Provincetown has dedicated 80% of its revenue from the Community Preservation Act to Community Housing projects in order to preserve the character and culture of their community.  Provincetown was the only town on the Cape to have a decrease in the year-round population in the decade of the '90's, primarily due to the cost of housing.  The CPC is encouraged that by leveraging the funds from CPA, developers and landowners will choose to provide community housing in Provincetown.

To read the Town of Provincetown Community Preservation Plan 2007 and the application, go to the Town's website www.provincetown-ma.gov.  Copies of the Plan and applications are available in the Selectmen/Town Manager’s Office, Provincetown Town Hall, 260 Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA 02657. Completed proposals must be submitted to that office by Monday, February 5, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. For further information, contact Elaine Anderson, Chairman, Community Preservation Committee, 508-487-9773.
