Adoption of a Local Historic District

The Provincetown Historic District Study Committee will conduct a public forum on Monday, March 31, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. in the Judge Welch Hearing Room, Provincetown Town Hall, 260 Commercial Street, Provincetown, Massachusetts 02657, on its proposal to create a local 40C Historic District.  An article to this effect has been prepared for the April 7, 2003 Annual Town Meeting.

The proposed Historic District bylaw is carefully tailored to the goals of preserving Provincetown’s extraordinary architecture; providing a process that is reasonable and fair; and providing guidelines that allow people to maintain and modify their homes while protecting Provincetown’s unique cultural heritage.

A copy of the final report of the Historic District Study Committee is available online at www.provincetown-ma.gov.  Copies of the bylaw are available at the Office of the Town Clerk.  Copies of the bylaw and guidelines are also available from Deputy Community Development Director Mark Latour at 508 487-7000 x 527.

Members of the public are encourage to attend this public forum, as well as to submit any written comments to the Department of Community Development, Town Hall, 260 Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA 02657, or in person at the hearing.
