Housing Assistance. On
August 14, 2006, the Board of Selectmen voted to request that the
Provincetown Housing Authority transfer $20,000 from the Affordable
Housing Trust Fund to fund an emergency rental assistance program
for Provincetown. The funds would be administered for Provincetown
residents under a grant agreement with the
Interfaith Counsel for the Homeless. The
Board has also voted to support staff recommendations to continue
to pursue and investigate (a) establishment of a housing resource
information points including the Town's website, a flyer, a box
ad/column in the local papers; (b) continued dialogue with the owners
to forestall eviction and facilitate discussions with agencies regarding
resources and options, (c) identification of other temporary housing
including hotels and guest houses, and (d) evaluation of a town
voucher program modeled after Chatham's Housing Voucher Program.
Those other initiatives are being further explored.
