AN ACT RELATIVE TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN THE TOWN OF PROVINCETOWN

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


SECTION 1. Chapter 43 of the Acts of 2000 is hereby amended by striking out section 1 and inserting in place thereof the following section: --

Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 5 of chapter 293 of the acts of 1998, the town of Provincetown shall deposit 35% of the total funds received under the provisions of said chapter 293 in the Affordable Housing Trust Fund established pursuant to Chapter 230 of the Acts of 2002. The funds expended for affordable housing purposes under this section shall be restricted to the reuse and renovation of existing structures.

SECTION 2. This act shall be submitted to the voters of said town at the next annual or special town election in the form of the following question which shall be placed upon the official ballot to be used at said election:-- "Shall an act passed by the general court in the year 2003 entitled, 'An Act relative to affordable housing in the town of Provincetown', be accepted?" If a majority of the votes cast in answer to said question is in the affirmative, then section 1 of this act shall thereupon take effect, but not otherwise.

SECTION 3. Section 2 of this act shall take effect upon its passage.
