On
Saturday, July 4 at 9:30 a.m. the Town of Provincetown experienced
a sewer pipe break which resulted in the loss of vacuum pressure in
the downtown area sewer lines. Read the Town
Manager's statement.
As of 12:00 noon Wednesday, July
8th, the Provincetown sewer system is up and running 100%. The
sewer system is experiencing some residual problems which continue
to be identified since the final repair work was completed on Wednesday.
During the weekend residents called in complaints of sewer noises
and odor complaints which, upon investigation, were either private
property issues or non-issues unable to be furthe r identified by
workers who responded. There was one buffer tank overflow in the
400 block of Commercial Street. After pumping and the replacement
of a controller and valve head no additional problems were located.
The beaches continue to be open
for all water related recreational activities. Water quality tests
were repeated on Thursday, July 9, 2009 on both the east and west
end came back negative.
Please report any concerns or sewer related issues to the DPW at
508-487-7060 or the 24 hour emergency line at 508-487-5474.
Thank you for your continued patience!
