The Town of Provincetown is excited to announce that the community planning process for the Motta Field Master Plan will begin with an event on November 19, 2022. The Town is seeking community input on creating a master plan for the future of Motta Field, which will define how the field is redesigned.
The Master Plan for Motta Field will aim to provide safe, welcoming, and adequate recreational resources for the entire community, while addressing accessibility concerns. As the primary venue for all high school and youth sports over the past 70 years, the history of the field will be incorporated into the design to recognize the past while designing for the future based on input received from residents and stakeholders.
The Town has hired the consulting firm Weston & Sampson to help facilitate the community planning process and provide the Town with conceptual plans derived from community input. Over the course of the next three months, the Town of Provincetown and Weston & Sampson will be hosting a series of events, including multiple community meetings, a park day, virtual office hours, and an ongoing virtual survey about the park. Those visiting and/or passing by the site this winter will have an opportunity to scan a QR code that will bring them to the planning website providing a history of the park, current planning information, and additional opportunities to provide their desires for the future of the park via a community survey.
The Town is excited to kick off the design process for the Motta Field Master Plan, and invites residents to come to Motta Field on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. to meet with members of the design team, learn more about what a master plan is and how it’s developed, and talk about their ideas for the future of Motta Field. There will be a park scavenger hunt for adults and kids, image boards of potential park features for discussion, and "dot" voting on your recreational preferences.
