From the The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (8/27/19):

Update on EEE in Massachusetts

It has been an active summer for Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in mosquitoes in Massachusetts. EEE is a rare but serious and potentially fatal disease that can affect people of all ages. Four human cases of EEE in Massachusetts have been announced this month, the first since 2013, an indication of the current significant risk of EEE in the Commonwealth. All residents are urged to use repellent when outdoors, draining standing water where mosquitoes breed, and repairing screens in doors and windows.
